Is there a way of scheduling an update of all movie descriptions (downloaded from imdb). I have changed the options and wish to store more information about each movie. I now want to update my entire collection. Is this possible?

Not at the moment. As far as i know, mass update is a planned feature but not yet released. In the meantime, a work around is explained here JeF
