Post [SOLVED] I can' manage to have two films with same name
Hi. I've just installed Movienizer to organize my movie collection.

I've created my database and I'm now in the process of adding my titles to the database, but I've run into a problem.

I have two films with the same title. There is "Gojira" (aka "Godzilla") the original version from 1954 and then there is Gojira (aka Godzilla) the later version from 1984. When entering one of these titles to my Movienizer database it replaces the other. I can't seem to have exist in my list. Even when I try to alter the titles a bit so they aren't exactly identical - for example I call one of them "Gojira (aka Godzilla), (1954)" and the other "Gojira (aka Godzilla), (1984)" - it doesn't help. Somehow they are still conflicting.

Can someone please tell me how to get around this problem? It could be something really easy and stupid. I'm new at this and will be happy to learn what I'm doing wrong.

Thanks!

Hello,

Movienizer uses movie title to ensure unicity. So it's not easy to work around this till you dowload infos from internet (title is part of these infos). The title is then reset to downloaded title name each time you download infos. You then can't have two entries when always downloading infos from internet at movie creation time.

Tip to have two entries for the same movie :
Create the first movie in the classic way (internet dowload).
For the second movie :
- push "Add movie" from toolbar (add by title)
- type the movie title (you'll modify/customize it later)
- untick the option "Download info about the movie from the Internet" so movienizer won't access internet
- if you didn't customize the first movie title, a "The movie exists" window opens : push "create a new record" button
- push "save" button : the second movie is created... empty
- click "Edit info" link on top of main page
- push button "Get movie info from the Internet" : infos will be downloaded and attached to the new movie (nb: title is reset)
- don't forget to modify (customize) the movie name (reset by dowloaded infos) before pushing "save" button
Here you are : two entries of the same movie

Beware : if you download again, the second movie entry will remain but the title will be reset to initial name (downloaded info)...

NB: Remind to tick again the option "Download info about the movie from the Internet" for the next movies

A little heavy but it works...

Hope it will help... ;)

PS To Vlad:
I wonder if a "customized title" flag or a "preserve title" flag would be useful not to reset the customized title when downloading (first or again) infos...

Thanks for the help in having two files with the same name. I was looking for the same solution for the television series' that we have. I was looking for a way to loan out one season but with only one heading of the same tv show it was either loan all 8 seasons or none. This solution will help out a whole lot. I am very glad that I tried out this forum.

I have submitted several questions online and received no answers yet from any of them.

Thanks again,

Shayne

This happens if your spam filter removes 'unwanted' email ;)
