Post Report broken links
Now bear with me for a while as I explain a rather interesting situation that occured to me:

A user has taken all the pain to set up a db of 1000 odd movie files all linked to an external disk. In all probability, the files may move around in the same disk and / or to another disk. Worse still, minor alterations to the filenames are even more frequent. He burns some to DVDs and clears them off his disk. Or just rips new DVDs and replaces a PAL on the disk. I mean we all do it, don't we?

Now, let us assume that the program can run in the background and track user actions (I don't know if it can do so already). But even then I understand that it would be difficult for the program to update the db - in the background - the moment the changes are made in the filesystem. But I guess it would be really great - and relatively easier - if the program could simply report such 'broken' links at each start up. The user can then manually 'fix' these and rest in peace.

Checking at each startup may hugely delay the startup and so be felt annoying by people. However, the feature sounds very interesting, that's why i've just added it to JeF's interface v20 (to come soon... i hope :) ).
This consists in a tool you can run anytime you want, it lists broken file path and gets you to corresponding movie update window.
As v20 is not already finished, i can PM you a link to a beta version if you want.

There is a problem though with removable media. For example, I have a certain external hdd with a portion of my movies. I connect it only when I want to watch some movied from it. Now, if Movienizer removes all dead links in the background, it will probably remove all links to these movies (say a hundred of them), which would be very inconvenient.
Just the same with DVDs.

Thanks both. You're right Vlad. Removing in background is out of the question. But all we need is that movienizer should be 'aware' that the external media has been removed. Now it should be up to the user if he wishes to remove the link or jst be 'aware'. Hope V20 will come in with a handy tool.

Yes, you're right. Added a prefix exception list (option) to the tool.

Why not add it to the modern and standard interface also ? it would be a great feature for everyone, it has my vote for support +1
