Post Speed up Adding Movies
Why not add a simple option, when adding movies, you knwo how many just get it right, no prompts, and then you get a question on 30% or so, is this it.. BYPASS those and come back later PLEASE... Even if the hit rate is 50%, I have 100's too add, and have to sit here, waiting for those that stop the batch..

Please tell me there is an option that I have missed?

Hi Eric,

If you're using Imdb download script, you can enter a list of imdb ids in place of a list of titles (details here).
You can build that imdb ids list outside Movienizer and, when that list is ready, just copy/paste it in download window (title mode) and leave Movienizer get all data for all movies in a bunch : it won't prompt you anymore cause imdb id is a sure way to get only one result for each movie.

Hey thanks for that, much appreciated.

I do still think the Add/Update process could be improved, all it needs is an "Auto Skip" option.

Cheers, Eric

Hi,

I agree with Eric. This feature is long overdue for implementing. Batch update should mean keep going without any user interaction all the way to the end and then provide a log report to show what happened. Jef's tip is excellent for ensuring that you get exactly the results that you want on auto update, however, unless I'm wrong, it does mean manually going through your entire collection on IMDB and copy/pasting each ID into a text file.

If you don't follow that route, you will need to go through all your collection anyway to ensure that each movie was created correctly. I'm assuming that you selected the option, "get first title from search result" which should mean most stuff gets updated with something. Also, it's worth reconciling the number of files in your movie folder with the number of films in the database, because it may well miss some with odd file types like m4v.

On a positive note, you should only have to go through this once (my database has survived a few years and updates from v3-4-5) and I found the process easier with this program than any of the others I tried :-)

Thank you for your requests. Actually, if you add movies from files, no log would be required, as there is the "Add only new files" feature of the file scanner.
