Multilingual IMDb

Postby Vlad » Tue Jun 15, 2010 9:10 am

Movienizer now supports script options, so it is possible to provide more flexible control over particular scripts. Attached is a new (beta) version of the imdb script that additionally supports:
  • Localized imdb pages (English, German, Spanish, Italian, French, Portuguese)
  • Age certification for different countries (put into the MPAA field)
Please let me know if there are any problems with the script and if you find the options useful.

If the movie doesn't have any translated description (which is often the case), its description in English is downloaded.

Attached is also the updated English language file (to support the new options).

Hi Vlad!

Works Fine! :)
Some things i noticed :
- Language strings missing in english.lng : 1945-1947
- Fun stuff isn't downloaded in english if missing using another local service than imdb.com (like imdb.fr)
(fench movie 'La grande vadrouille' as an example : got trivia at imdb.com but none at imdb.fr)
Maybe i could help if you've got no time for that particuliar point.
;)

Hi JeF!

Thanks for your feedback, I've uploaded a wrong language file :). Uploaded the right one instead of it now (I hope so).

I'm still not sure how much information should be downloaded in English if it is missing in the local language. Some people don't speak English at all :). Maybe we should update scripts for French, Italian, Spanish, and so on sites so that there is an option to download only the description (as an example)? Some people requested a feature that would allow choosing which fields to update. Well, now it is possible to implement within the current version of the program.
