Post HOW TO LIST MULTIPLE COPIES OR FORMATS OF THE SAME MOVIE
As a new user, i have a situation that requires me to list copies of the same film in same or different formats, ld, dvd and vhs. Wide Screen, Full screen

this is practicle for people like myself who collect the packaging as well as the content.

it also permits me upgrade titles as well as keep control of multiple titles in different locations. The for sale box is very cool since it permits me to list the films i wish to dispose of however it does not solve the above problems.

Any suggestions?

Currently Movienizer doesn't support this feature, but we intend to introduce it later.

What, exactly, is the technical limitation that is imposing this restriction? I'm thinking that there must be some kind of software check on movie title -- or some other field (?) -- that is imposing this... I can't imagine that it would be hard to do.

What would happen if I were to manually insert a duplicate movie into the database?

Everything is easy from a certain point of view ;)

You can do that by using different scripts for different movies. However, in such case the movie will be listed two (or more) times in every filmography.

I can't seem to save 3 different movies with the same title i.e. "The Scarlet Pimpernel". I have three versions 1934, 1982 and 1999. I have saved the 1934 version with no problem and although IMDB lists the 1982 and 1999 versions separately when movienizer brings either one into the database it combines the actors and photos from both movies. I can't seem to separate them without one file cancelling out the other. Even tried title search using the IMDB tt numbers, no luck. Any way to do this?

Can you repeat the problem with an empty database (you can create a new empty database and test adding these movies)?

Post Re: HOW TO LIST MULTIPLE COPIES OR FORMATS OF THE SAME MOVIE
I've got the same situation with multiple versions of "Prisoner of Zenda" and "Scarlet Pimpernel". My solution was to:
- Add the first movie (The Scarlet Pimpernel 1982) normally and save it
- Add the next one separately, making sure the correct version (The Scarlet Pimpernel 1934) was selected and save it
- Edit each of the two titles to clean up the various pictures, including doing additional searches for more pictures on the net if necessary

The third step is needed because while there are two separate titles with correct details, actors and so on, the "Covers" sub-directory can't seem to deal with identical tiles and mixes all pictures for both titles using the same naming convention Scarlet Pimpernel-##. The overall process is a bit tedious but it works for me because I don't have that many titles like this and all are same format (DVD) with just different year variations. Where I have two versions of the same movie like American Werewolf in Paris (Region 4 has different ending as well as different aspect ratio and resolution to Region 1 version), I list both as separate editions under same title.

This is all a learning experience as I get everything out of my old Excel records into Movienizer.

Yes, you can find the feature under the "Editions" tab. Blu-ray, DVD, VHS are nothing more than different editions of the same movie.
