Post Grouping of series - aaaaaargh!
Can I just say - as a new Movienizer user - that I love the program... I have unfortunately discovered an apparent limitation to the program, it may just be that I'm a newbie and I'm missing something, which I why I'm deferring to the forum...

I have several collections of TV series in my library, which Movienizer conveniently places under one heading...

To use the example of "The Tudors" I have series 1, 2 and 3 and have yet to buy series 4, but the listing in movienizer says i have all four in my collection. I have also leant out odd series of another collection to my nephew, but there's no way to say "I've leant out series 1, but the rest are on my shelf".

Is there no way to split out the individual series of collections to treat them seperately in certain circumstances?

I can answer HALF your question and maybe suggest something.

So I too was adding TV Shows; added CSI: Miami. IMDB added 10 Seasons but really I only owned 5 so what I did was this:

Edit Info, or if you are still in the Edit Info, go over to the Seasons Tab. Season 1 is probably highlighted; click a Season that you DO NOT OWN and click the small (minus) button. It will prompt you "are you sure you want to remove all episodes of this season" say YES. You have to do it with each season you want to delete/remove (for now)......Once you buy a season you do the opposite, go back into Seasons and instead of Minus you click ADD (Plus)...............hmmm nope, how bout trying to "add" in the upper left side of Movienizer Homepage and just use one of the DVDs; hopefully it will add just that season. I actually hoped you could click 'add season x' and it will add those episodes but it didnt work way I wanted.

As far as the other question. There are tabs within the edit, that perhaps you can type in the "comment" section. The "comment" section looks like a blank sheet in which you can say Season 1 with: Girl x, and Season 2 with: Boy A. Again just a thought. Cause though you save the database, your edits will be saved, you can then remove what you typed in the "comment" section when you receive them back.

Managing Series, you just should keep in mind there are two things :
- Episodes : The full series seasons/episodes catalog : not only what you own, but the full series (this is the reference)
- Editions : The series episodes you own (one edition for one episode, each edition linked to the concerned episode using season and episode numbers)

That way, using editions, you can :
- locate each episode you own (loaned or not)
- check if you own it or not (no edition => not owned)

The only thing is the 'Wanted' flag which is at movie level, not edition level.
A quick workaround would be to create a 'dummy' duplicate movie card for a particuliar season, just to check and list the 'wanted' season(s).
When the wanted season is owned, just delete the 'dummy' movie card and update the master movie card (just add the new editons for that season)

;)
