Post customizing reports
Wonderful program! I used to build my list very tediously with Excell and IMDB on a split screen. A couple of questions and wishes (if they don't come true, still very useful program):
1. When building a custom report, how do I add fields which aren't on the default list, e.g. composers?
2. How does one sort and select on a given field so as to print out a report with only the movies of a certain genre or by a certain director, etc.?
3. Is there any way to strip the article ("a" or "the) from the titles or, better yet, move them to the end of the title seperated by a comma to allow more meaningful alphabetization?

I'll appreciate any help and thanks for reading this.

Unfortunately, you cannot. Please let us know which fields you need.

Use search, it can do everything that you mentioned. In the reports window, depress the "use search results" button.

Currently it is not possible, but we will add the feature.

Thank you for your reply. I would most like to see composers added as an option for a column in report builder. Writers would also be nice.

Post Re: customizing reports
Hi,
First of all i would like to say that this is great program, and many thanks!!

I have problem with creating custom reports.
I made 5 columns. Cover/title/genre/actors/description

First i change font for title (12, bold).
Everything else is ok for now.

But when i try to use font 8 for description (i'm using script for longer imdb description) , it is also changing title to 8.
After that moment, in whatever column i try to change font (size, italic, bold...) it also changes settings to all columns that i tried to change before.
(not in those i didn't change at all).

Is there any solution for that!

Thanks for your help!!

Hi,

First of all I'd like to congratulate everyone involved in developing Movienizer - an exceptional piece of software.

I confirm the bug reported by Nebula – when customizing the font on a custom report the first time it only formats the font for the field selected but from that point on it changes the formatting for all columns, would be great to just format every column individually. Can’t seem to discover the trigger for this problem.

A suggestion for more fields – being Portuguese I’d like to use both the original title of a movie and the Portuguese one, so it would be great to be able to have 2 columns, one with the original title and the other with the Portuguese one. For this to work the option to add Title would need to be implemented (current version only displays original title).

Keep up the good work. Thanks

Post customizing reports - translated title
Hello !

I have been using the program since a few months and love it. It is very well buit, lite and easy to use. Congratulations !!

I would also suggest to have a seperate field original title and french (I am french) or translated title. I the search we should have the choice to list with either title. Also in the report, as already mentionned, a field with translated title would be very helpful. I use AntMovie since about 10 years and I will do prefer Movienizer when listing by french title will be possible.

Thank you for this great organizer.

:P

Movienizer has two fields: title and original title. If you use French scripts, you get French titles into the "Title" field. The original title (if applicable) goes to the "Original title" field. Thus you can search for French titles and use them in your reports, can't you? ;)

Thanks for your answer Vlad.
Movienizer has 2 fields for the titles, but we see them only in the movie description. There is no choice possible in the search or report, only the fiel title. As my base is 75% us movies I use title as the default english title, even if it is not the original one. I was thinking of having both titles: 1) title and 2) translated title when making a report or doing a search. Also in " Sort movie list by ->" we could have the choice, now there is only title, year, ..

We will add more fields to the report builder, including the original title field. However, I don't think that adding yet another title field would be reasonable. After all, movies have at most two titles: the original one, and the translated one (we don't take into account "also known as" possibilities). Original titles should go to the "original title" field, translated ones go to the "title". Creating yet another field for 'translated titles' isn't justified. We just need to add the possibility of showing original titles in the place of titles.
