Problem with adding a movie.

Post by Tulsaboyw » Tue Jan 25, 2011 11:00 pm

was trying to add some movies.

Most are adding just fine.. .loving the product.

Here is the problem:

When I either type or scan the barcode in...
(typing most often). and if I hit enter, I get the inital info but as soon
as I click next, it goes thru the search and doesnt find it, or if I select all options I get non-usa choices if any.

2 major examples:
EL Dorado (john wayne, robert Mitchum (barcode: 097360662573)
Or even COSMOST: CARL SAGAN Collectors Edition.. (barcode 804387101097).

IN others, I found 100% of everything, but no pics, but on those it was VHS and I added the pics needed manually.
If I get all the INFO other than pics, Im ok in that I dont mind manually adding (scanning in) the picture.

Ive been able to get around this at least on some.

FOr example, I preferred that Movienizer have my 'gone with the wind' deluxe edition.
But I got the regular one, and changed the title to reflect the deluxe.
Willeventually scan the deluxe case and us its pic instead.

On collections... I havent figured that out.
For example I have 'The evolution: Planet of the Apes'.
I entered all its movies as seperate movies but with type 'Movie Collection', instead of MOVIE.

COuldnt figure out COSMOS: Collectors EDITION (all 13)..
The initial (after u hit enter key) gets the COSMOS, but when you go internet it doesnt find it.
Same problemw with other movies, it seems to find it intiailly on that first find but not when one
This is 'add movie' and type in 'barcode' and hit enter..
It finds it there. but if I click next it never does no matter what I do.

Fortunately I only have about 20 to go... but all 20 had problems in getitng into movienizer.

And 5 are going to be replaced by dvd anyway.
The 5 dont even have bardcode and didnt get found by 'title' either.
Havent tried 'add movie' by 'from dvd' though.

You can use the DVDEmpire script to add exactly the editions you have.

Thanks that will be helpful on a future push to get the rest of my movies in.

I got my primary movies in now... though with some issues left,
Still have the overall collection to put in... 2000+

My primary movies are about 100+ or so the rest are collection or historical

Nothign like what some seem to have.
My previous landlord had over 6000 dvd's and gave up on 'databasing' his collection.
But with movienizer (per barcodes) he might just have options he didnt relize he had.

Your welcome.
I figured it out well enough to get a 'preferred' rpt that I use nearly exclusively.

I love the pgm, and I hope that a book'nizer will be available real soon.

While i have 500+ dvd/vhs movies, I have over 8000 books of which
at least 500 will not have a barcode or isbn available (will research them and add manually by title or similar).

On booknizer' I would love if you also include a way to flag or designatte 'collectiable' or $$ value or similar in
addition to the common sense items you will likley add anyway.

Of my 8000 books/etc... nearly half are collectable (ranging from 200+ year old books worth $$ to the
cheapie paperbacks. (paperback versus hardback too).. as I only have 100 or so that are paperback.

I pretty much gave up (for now, per weather issues and other) the idea of trying to duplicate the built in 'show movies in list by cover'.
Its easy enough when I get it via report builder but its one cover per page, instead of several per line.

But will play with it... maybe creating it via reportbuilder and then modifying html is the answer?
I would bet it is. Fortunatley thats not a biggie but will work it later on.

Could you please provide more details as to what you'd like to do?

Not really a big deal... and im not in a real hurry though when your booknizer or musicnizeer gets avaiable to play with, I would love to figure this out too.

But what I want to do is litterally have a rpt that is the same as the
'Show all movies as a list of covers (all)' that you can do from 'Home' in movienizer.

I can pretty much get there except that I have it one movie per page instead of several per row and then as much as
will fill a regular page.

Im relizing now, that I bet I need to come as close as I can and then probably do some html editing to actually get there.
Probably to edit out the page breaks (if any) and maybe see what tabling or similar that rpt does.
